Final of First Chinese Poetry Competition is held

In order to spread Chinese culture and learn the classics of Chinese poetry, the final of the first Chinese Poetry Competition was held by College of Atmospheric Sciences with the coordination of other 24 colleges at 14:30 on May 20th , 2018. After preliminary contest, intermediary heat and semi-final, 16 groups went into the final. The judges included Gao Lu, from School of Chinese Language and Literature, Sha Xinyu, instructor of our college and presidents of student unions of all colleges. During the competition, Gao Lu made explanations about some difficult questions.
The final was divided into four parts. In the first part, all the teams were divided into groups with two teams and they need answer questions in turn. After giving the answers, they could put the symbol of their team on the screen. If they made a mistake, they need to put the other team’s symbol on it. Who first finish the line would win in this round. Then came game of eye to eye. Each team had 120 seconds to finish the game. And one person was selected to eat up the piece of bread on the desk and then described the poems on the screen. Other participants need guess the meaning according to his description. In this process, Cuiying Honors College and School of Foreign Languages and Literature stood out. The third part was “fast questions and fast answers”. The host posed questions in regulated time and participants need make quick judgement as fast as they could. The last part was the most mysterious and fierce one——fighting round. The top six teams were divided into offense and defense. If they gave the right answer, they would win or the marks would be deducted. Finally, the team from School of Foreign Languages and Literature won the first place, the second place was given to School of Chinese Language and Literature, Cuiying Honors College and School of Information Science and Engineering, the third place was given to College of Atmospheric Sciences, School of Journalism and Communication , Second Clinical School and College of Earth Environmental Sciences, and the excellent prize was given to other eight teams. At last, Sha Xinyu gave the awards to winner teams and took pictures with them.
The contest stimulated the memory and emotion of audience with familiar poems and enabled them to learn the essence of the Chinese poetry among the numerous questions. Hope students could shoulder the responsibility of spreading excellent Chinese culture and pass it to next generations.
