On the afternoon of June 12, at the invitation of the College of Atmospheric Sciences, Yu Yubin, director of the Department of Sci-Tech and Climate Change of the China Meteorological Administration, Zhang Qiang, deputy director of the Gansu Provincial Meteorological Bureau, ect. visited Lanzhou University and held a symposium on cooperation between bureaus and univerisities in Room 2210 of Guanyun Building. Zhao Changming, deputy dean of the Sci-Tech Development Research Institute of Lanzhou University and director of the Science Observatory Station Management Center, Jin Xin, deputy director of the Graduate School Training Office, and members of the party and government leading group of the College of Atmospheric Sciences attended the symposium. It was chaired by Tian Wenshou, dean of the College of Atmospheric Sciences.

       At the symposium, Zhao Changming introduced the situation of the scientific science observatory station of Lanzhou University; Huang Zhongwei introduced the draft cooperation agreement between the China Meteorological Administration and the Lanzhou University; Si Wenxuan introduced the 'Lanjing Cup' National Meteorological Sci-Tech Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition of Colleges and Universities and the 'Meteorological Cup' National Meteorological Expertise Competition of Colleges and Universities. Participants conducted in-depth discussions on joint training of doctoral candidates, sci-tech cooperation and resource sharing.

       Yu Yubin said that the College of Atmospheric Sciences of Lanzhou University has been committed to cultivating professionals in atmospheric science and serving the national meteorological undertakings with outstanding achievements. The China Meteorological Administration has maintained a good cooperation with the College of Atmospheric Sciences of Lanzhou University for a long time, and has achieved complementary advantages, resource sharing, and win-win cooperation. He made several suggestions for deepening the cooperation between the two sides in the future. One is to jointly declare national key projects; the second is to jointly promote the construction of the Lanzhou Joint Research Center for Atmospheric Sciences; the third is to jointly build a scientific and technological innovation platform and a national field observation station; the fourth is to jointly strengthen the construction of first-class disciplines in atmospheric science and the cultivation of high-level talents; the fifth is to jointly carry out the promotion of meteorological science.

       On behalf of the College, Tian Wenshou expressed his welcome to Yu Yubin and his group. He also expressed his sincere gratitude to China Meteorological Administration and the Gansu Provincial Meteorological Bureau for their support and assistance to the College of Atmospheric Sciences. He said that the college will promote the cooperation agreement between Bureaus and universities as soon as possible, and further promote the construction of first-class disciplines, and achieve mutual benefit.

       Li Yumin, vice president of Lanzhou University, met with Yu Yubin and his group and had an in-depth exchange on relevant cooperation issues. Yu Yubin and his group also visited the Lanzhou University Science Observatory Management Center and the College of Atmospheric Sciences.
