On the afternoon of June 28th, the College of Atmospheric Sciences held a graduation ceremony for the 2020 class in the C302 lecture hall of Tianshan Hall, Yuzhong campus. Colonel Zhang Yucheng, Director of the Training Office of the Air Force Station in Lanzhou University, Ma Yongfu and Zheng Hongying, parents of 2020 Undergraduate Ma Zonghua, alumni representatives, 2009 undergraduates, Wang Haikun, cadre of Gansu Provincial Department of Natural Resources, the College's leaders and so on attended the ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by Wang Weiguo, Secretary of the Party Committee of the College.
Before the ceremony, the students watched the short video and graduation commemorative video of teachers and students' blessings to the graduates to recall the four years of youth in the university.
The ceremony kicked off in the solemn national anthem. Dean Tian Wenshou delivered a speech and gave a vivid 'last class' to the graduates. On behalf of the College, Tian Wenshou extended warm congratulations to the 235 graduates who successfully completed their studies, and expressed his most sincere gratitude to the parents and teachers who have worked hard and dedicated to the students' growth. He sent a message to all graduates, hoping that everyone will learn to take responsibility, have the country and the society in their hearts, and be a person with national sentiments and a sense of social responsibility; hoping that everyone will work hard, grasp the direction of life, be the master of destiny, and think about what the country and the people need and ask, so as to truly apply science and technology to serve the people and the construction of the motherland; hoping that everyone will not forget to learn continuously and steadily to enrich themselves. Ma Yongfu thanked the teachers of the College for their hard work in training the graduates, and encouraged the graduates not to forget their teachers, live up to their youth, and live out their own splendor. Wang Haikun recalled his life in the College and expressed his concern and earnest hope to all the graduates, saying that the graduates should bravely do 'back waves' in the new era. The graduate representative, Li Jin, confessed to his teachers and classmates in his speech, and expressed that he would strengthen his conviction in the days to come, keep moving forward, and achieve his life goals, while also adding luster to his University and College.
At the ceremony, Huang Yu, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the College, introduced the basic information and employment situation of the College’s 2020 graduates. Yang Yi, the deputy dean of the College, announced the 'Decision of the College of Atmospheric Sciences to Commend Outstanding Graduates in 2020'. The guest teachers presented the honorary certificate to the outstanding graduate representatives. Feng Xia, the deputy dean of the College, issued the letter of appointment to the class liaison. The students also performed an appreciation ceremony and song skewers for their teachers. As the graduate representative, the 2016 National Defense Student Brigade Team Leader Tang Xinfeng led all the graduates to make a solemn graduation oath.
'For a long time to build strong ambitions, it is time to set sail.' All the graduates of the College will take the sincere care and ardent expectation of the College to go to various parts of the motherland, brave the wind and waves, move forward bravely, and create their own beautiful future.
