Recently, the Gansu Provincial Final of the 3rd National College Student Career Planning Competition concluded at Northwest Normal University. Hosted by the Department of Education of Gansu Province, the competition consists of three tracks: Growth Track, Employment Track, and Teacher Curriculum Teaching Track. Students from the College of Atmospheric Sciences, Lanzhou University stood out with excellent performances and achieved remarkable results. Among them, Yan Wei, a 2024 doctoral candidate, won the Gold Award in the Employment Track; Wang Mengchao, a 2023 undergraduate student, won the Silver Award in the Growth Track; and Huang Yu, a faculty member of the College, was awarded Excellent Instructor. This marks a new breakthrough for the College in this competition.

Yan Wei focused on the cutting-edge field of climate change and health based on his research experience, closely integrating academic research with the national strategy of Healthy China. He mapped out a clear development path from scientific research to industrial practice. In the defense session, he was calm, confident, and logically rigorous, fully demonstrating the solid academic foundation and keen industrial insight of Lanzhou University students. His career plan not only reflected his personal development vision but also deeply integrated individual growth with national development and social needs, winning high recognition from the judges.

Wang Mengchao set frontline weather forecasters in grassroots meteorological bureaus as his growth goal, showing in-depth thinking and clear planning for the future among junior and senior undergraduate students. At the competition, he integrated academic study, internship practice, and campus growth into his future career planning. With vivid cases and detailed data, he explained how to gradually approach his ideal career through phased goals, demonstrating the spirit of young people in the new era who root their ideals in grassroots work and respond to the times with actions.
In recent years, the College has continuously strengthened students' career education, improved the construction of career planning courses, optimized employment guidance services, pooled high-quality resources inside and outside the university, and built a more accurate, efficient and full-process career support platform. Since the launch of this competition, the College has attached great importance to it and made careful arrangements. Taking the competition as an important starting point to deepen employment education and improve students' career planning ability, the College carried out a series of pre-competition training activities in accordance with the competition requirements. Experts from inside and outside the university were invited to provide systematic guidance on career cognition, self-positioning, defense skills and other aspects, helping students deeply understand the significance of career planning, prepare scientifically and efficiently, and providing solid support for students to perform calmly in the competition.

In the future, the College will further innovate guidance methods, enrich practical education carriers, focus on improving students' career planning ability and comprehensive competitiveness, help every student clarify their life direction, consolidate their professional foundation, and achieve high-quality development on the track of youth.
