In order to deeply implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, further enhance the ability of the College to serve major national strategies, and implement and promote the cooperation agreement signed between Lanzhou University and the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center, from July 8th to 10th, Huang Zhongwei, Vice Dean of the College of Atmospheric Sciences, Li Yan, Vice Dean of the Department of Meteorology, Wei Linbo, Director of the Atmospheric Science Teaching and Experimental Center, and Li Xu, Vice Director, visited and exchanged views at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center.
During the visit, teachers of the College of Atmospheric Sciences had in-depth discussions and exchanges with Hu Yuxi, Deputy Political Commissar of the Technical Department of the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center, Yang Jingjian, Director of the Meteorological Office, and Kang Lin, Deputy Director, on deepening scientific research cooperation and talent cultivation. Vice President Huang Zhongwei introduced the development history, talent cultivation, and scientific research of the College of Atmospheric Sciences; Li Yan, Deputy Director of the Department of Meteorology, gave a detailed introduction to the work of the College of Atmospheric Sciences in weather forecasting, especially in response to the meteorological support needs in space launch missions, and proposed specific directions and areas for further cooperation between the two sides in the future. Li Xu and Wei Linbo also had in-depth exchanges with the forecasters present.
Kang Lin, Deputy Director of the Meteorological Office of Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center, introduced the basic situation of Jiuquan Center and the development history of the Meteorological Office. According to Kanglin, in recent years, the meteorological department has continuously improved meteorological observation instruments and technology, and has made rapid improvements in forecasting and meteorological support capabilities, which has contributed meteorological forces to ensure the 'foolproof' of space launch missions. At the same time, Kang Lin also introduced the technical difficulties encountered by the meteorological office in its business work, and expressed the hope that with the joint efforts of both parties, the weather forecasting and support capabilities will be further improved.
The exchange activity will deepen the cooperation between our college and Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in talent cultivation and scientific research innovation and expand the employment channels for college graduates. The both sides will jointly carry out research projects in meteorological support services to enhance the scientific and technological innovation capabilities and level of our university.
