Recently, the Talent Work Leading Group of the Gansu Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China announced the list of the third batch of top leading talents, including Professor Tian Wenshou from the College of Atmospheric Sciences at Lanzhou University, Professor Liu Xiang from the School of Physical Science and Technology, Professor Zhao Changming from the School of Ecology, Professor Hou Fujiang from the School of Grassland Agricultural Science and Technology, Professor Qin Yong from the School of Materials and Energy, Professor Huang Ning from the School of Civil Engineering and Mechanics, Professor Liang Yongmin from the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, and Professor Yang Suchang from the School of Economics, Professor Sha Yongzhong from the School of Management, Professor Zhou Junlin from the Second Hospital, ect. were selected.

 

       News background:

       In order to deeply implement the strategy of strengthening the province with talents and the innovation driven development strategy, in October 2019, the Gansu Provincial Party Committee and Government issued the 'Gansu Province Top Talents Training Support Measures (Trial)', which planned to gradually select around 100 top talents with high academic and technological levels, outstanding performance, and good development potential from the provincial leading talents. They were given a key subsidy of 1 million yuan per person per year in the field of science and technology for a period of 3 years, and 500,000 yuan per person per year in other fields, aiming to cultivate a top talent team that is expected to be selected for national level talent projects (titles) such as academicians and Yangtze River scholars. In 2020 and 2021, 12 professors from Lanzhou University, including Wang Wei, Wang Jizeng, Luo Honggang, He Jinsheng, Nie Junsheng, Xia Yayi, Deng Jianming, Xu Pengfei, Li Xun, Huang Jianping, Dong Guanghui, and Ding Zhigang, were selected as top leading talents in the province. In 2022, a total of 38 provincial top leading talents were selected for the third batch in the province.
