       'I hope that the students will always stick to the spirit of Lanzhou University, and be a LZUer who dares, can and is responsible...' As the 2020 graduates are leaving their alma mater, Lanzhou University President Yan Chunhua presented a message to the students.

       On June 29th, the 2020 graduation ceremony and degree awarding ceremony of Lanzhou University was held on the Yuzhong campus. At the ceremony, 138 graduates who volunteered to work in the grassroots, difficult and remote areas, and key fields were particularly eye-catching. They chose to go to the place where the motherland needed them most.

       Tudengquta from Dingri County, Xigaze City, Tibet is one of them. This 22-year-old young man is an undergraduate majoring in atmospheric science in grade 2016. After graduation, he chose to work in his hometown Dingri County Meteorological Bureau. At the age of 12, Tudengquta was admitted to the Tibet Class and spent his middle school in Shanghai and Jiangsu. During the university, he returned to Xigaze twice to be the volunteer teacher. Weather work is mostly carried out outdoors, and the lowest temperature in Tingri County can reach minus 27 degrees Celsius. Tudengquta didn’t have the slightest fear, “I grew up there, what cannot adapt?' Shi Wanfeng, the counselor of the School, is very gratified:' This child has grinding simplicity and sincerity.'

       Dong Lijun, a 2017 master degree graduate of the School of Life Sciences, is another one who chooses to go grassroot areas. Dong Lijun's uncle's family is a poor household in Ulan Qab City, Inner Mongolia, and has been lifted out of poverty with the help of the government. The poverty alleviation experience of his relatives greatly encouraged Dong Lijun. Dong Lijun took the Guangxi selection and transfer examination and was admitted. He said: 'No matter which position I am assigned to, I will ask myself to endure hardship and work hard.'

       Witnessing the graduates who are about to go all over the world, Ma Xiaojie, secretary of the Party Committee of Lanzhou University, hopes that they will broaden their horizons, and serve the country and make achievements with their responsibility, hard work, constant self-improvement, and unique deeds.
