August 23-25, Lanzhou University's 110th Anniversary Celebration：Frontier Forum on Atmospheric Sciences, jointly organized by College of Atmospheric Sciences of Lanzhou University and Key Laboratory of Semi-Arid Climate Change Ministry of Education, was held at Room 2009, Guanyun Building, West District, Lanzhou University. More than 50 domestic experts and scholars from more than 20 scientific research institutes and universities attended the meeting. They are the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Atmospheric Physics, the Institute of Remote Sensing and Digital Earth, the Northeast Institute of Geography and Agricultural Ecology, the Chinese Academy of Meteorological Sciences, Beijing Normal University, Fudan University, University of Science and Technology of China, Wuhan University, etc.

       The opening ceremony of the conference was presided over by Wang Weiguo, secretary of the Party Committee of the College of Atmospheric Sciences. Prof. Tian Wenshou, dean of the College of Atmospheric Sciences, gave a welcome speech on behalf of the College. Prof. Zhang Lei, executive deputy director of the Key Laboratory of Semi-Arid Climate Change, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. Prof. Wang Kaicun, alumnus of College of Atmospheric Sciences, winner of the National Outstanding Youth Fund, and director of the Science and Technology Department of Beijing Normal University, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony as alumni representatives.

       During the conference, the participating experts made special academics from five aspects: global environment and climate change, cloud microphysical characteristics and their parameterization, aerosol characteristics and radiation effects, Qinghai-Tibet Plateau observation and simulation, and cloud parameter advanced inversion techniques. These academics shared the latest research results in the field of atmospheric science at home and abroad and brought a wonderful academic feast. Scholars have discussed the current issues in the development of atmospheric science, and exchanged discussions on issues such as personnel training, platform construction and academic cooperation.

       Experts and scholars also visited the newly built Alumni Plaza in the middle of the meeting and took a group photo.
