Recently, the Ministry of Education issued the “Notice on Announcement of the List of 2019 National and Provincial First-Class Undergraduate Major Construction Points” (letter of the Department of Education [2019] No. 46). A total of 18 undergraduate majors in Lanzhou University were selected as national first-class undergraduate major construction sites and 20 undergraduate majors were selected as provincial first-class undergraduate major construction sites. Among them, our college's Atmospheric Science was selected as a national first-class undergraduate major construction site, and Applied Meteorology was selected as a provincial first-class undergraduate major construction site.

       This is the staged result achieved by our college in the professional construction since the thorough implementation of the first-class undergraduate construction. It is an important manifestation of the college's efforts to strengthen the basic position of undergraduate teaching and constantly improve the collaborative education and practical teaching mechanism. In recent years, our college has continuously strengthened the construction of teaching teams, improved the practical teaching system, promoted the innovation of the curriculum system, deepened the level of domestic cooperation, actively broadened the dimension of talent training, and promote the growth of high-quality talent. It has laid a solid foundation for building first-class national and provincial majors.

       The selection of national and provincial first-class undergraduate major construction sites is a full affirmation for our college's achievements in education. The college will take this opportunity to deepen the reform of education and teaching, improve the undergraduate major construction plan, further follow the first-class major construction standards, continue to strengthen the professional characteristics, enhance the professional connotation and construction level, and constantly apply new ideas, new concepts, new technologies and methods, strive to play a demonstration role in the aspects of professional reform and innovation, teaching staffs construction , teaching resources, quality assurance system and so on.

 

Background:

       According to the notice of the General Office of the Ministry of Education on the construction of the training base for top students in basic subjects in 2019, it is planned to respectively build about 10000 national and provincial first-class undergraduate major sites in 2019-2021, and the work will be completed in three years. In 2019, the Ministry of Education identified the first 4054 national first-class undergraduate major construction sites and 6210 provincial first-class undergraduate major construction sites.
