On May 18, entrusted by the Department of Ecology and Environment of Gansu Province, Lanzhou University organized an expert review meeting at the Yifu Science Museum in the West District of Chengguan Campus. Five experts from universities and scientific research institutes, including the Environmental Resources Research Institute, reviewed the work outline and monitoring plan of the 'Lanzhou City Air Pollution Causes and Prevention Countermeasures Research Project'. Xu Pengfei, assistant to the president of Lanzhou University and executive dean of the Institute of Science and Technology Development, attended the review meeting and delivered a welcome speech. More than 30 representatives from Gansu Provincial Department of Ecological Environment, Lanzhou Ecological Environment Bureau, PetroChina Lanzhou Petrochemical Company, Gansu Provincial Environmental Monitoring Center Station and Lanzhou University participated in the review meeting.
At the meeting, Professor Tian Wenshou, director of the project office and dean of the College of Atmospheric Sciences of Lanzhou University, introduced the preliminary work of the project. Professor Chen Qiang, the person in charge of the project technical team and the director of the Department of Atmospheric Environment of the College of Atmospheric Sciences, Lanzhou University, successively reported the project work outline and monitoring plan. After questioning and appraisal, the review expert group believes that the project has set clear goals for the coordinated prevention and control of ozone and PM2.5 pollution, integrated monitoring and observation, air pollution source emission inventory and source analysis, pollution causes and mechanisms, and air pollution prevention and countermeasures. The research methods of the 4 subjects are correct, the research plan and technical route are reasonable, the monitoring point setting is representative, and the detection methods meets the relevant specifications. The expert group unanimously agreed to pass the review of the project work outline and the monitoring plan, and proposed the next step comments and suggestions.
Liu Hui Gao Gong, secretary of the Safety and Environmental Supervision Center of PetroChina Lanzhou Petrochemical Branch, said that he will continue to cooperate with the project team to ensure the implementation of research projects and reflect the role of state-owned enterprises in the prevention and control of air pollution.
Liu Yingwei, Director of the Atmosphere Division of the Gansu Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment, said that with the joint efforts of the whole society, the prevention and control of air pollution in Lanzhou has achieved remarkable results in recent years. At present, the prevention and control of air pollution in Lanzhou has entered a 'bottleneck period'. Scientific prevention and effective supervision are required. I hope that the experts of the project team will work together to provide scientific basis and cooperation for the coordinated prevention and control of ozone and PM2.5 pollution in Lanzhou City, preventing and controlling ozone pollution in key areas. Provide scientific basis and technical support for key industries ozone precursor pollution control and carbon coordinated emission reduction, and contribute 'Lanzhou Wisdom' and 'Lanzhou Power' to the formation of a new 'Lanzhou experience' and 'Lanzhou model' for air pollution prevention and control.
