       Research direction and main results
Huang Jianping has long focused on semi-arid climate change research. He took root in the west and led the team to build China's semi-arid climate observation system over more than ten years, and his team quickly developed into China’s first National Foundation Innovation Research Group in the field of semi-arid climate change, the first key laboratory of the Ministry of Education, and the first A base for innovation and talent introduction by the Ministry of Education. In the semi-arid climate change and its mechanism research, a series of original research results with strong foundation and high influence have been made.
Main academic contributions: (1) Huang Jianping systematically revealed the interaction of dust aerosols with clouds and precipitation and the mechanism of affecting the arid climate in Northwest China. This research result won the second prize of the 2013 National Natural Science Award (ranked first)., and the first prize of the 2012 Gansu Natural Science Award (ranking first); (2) He Expands the research horizon from northwest China to the world, and discovers that the global arid and semi-arid area is the most significant area in the global land temperature increase in the past 100 years. It reveals the temporal and spatial characteristics and formation mechanism of global semi-arid climate change; (3) He created and developed a comprehensive observation system for semi-arid climate in my country, filling the gap of lack of observation in this field.
