Recently, the China Meteorological Administration released the review results of the third session of National Famous Meteorologists and the second batch of national meteorological teaching teams. Professor Tian Wenshou of the College of Atmospheric Sciences of Lanzhou University and the teaching team of 'numerical weather prediction' were on the list.

 

 

       A total of 22 colleges and universities across the country have established atmospheric science related majors. In 2018, the China Meteorological Administration selected the 'National Famous Meteorology Teachers' every two years among the colleges and universities that set up atmospheric specialties nationwide, and added the selection of 'National Meteorology Teaching Team' in 2020. So far, three teachers of the College of Atmospheric Sciences of our university have been awarded the title of 'National Famous Meteorology Teachers' for three consecutive times, and the teaching team of 'Numerical Weather Prediction' has been awarded the title of 'National Meteorology Teaching Team' for the second time, reflecting the remarkable achievements of the College of Atmospheric Sciences of our university in the construction of the teaching team.

       Professor Tian Wenshou is a leading talent in the 'National Special Support Plan for High level Talents', a winner of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, and a leader of the innovation team in key fields of the Ministry of Science and Technology.

       The course 'Numerical Weather Prediction' is the main course of atmospheric science, which teaches the frontier of atmospheric science and the basic theory and key technology of numerical prediction. The 'Numerical Weather Forecast' teaching team of Lanzhou University is composed of Wang Chenghai, Yang Yi, Long Xiao, Chen Siyu, Zhang Feimin, Yang Kai and other teachers of Lanzhou University, together with Shen Xueshun, a researcher from the Earth System Numerical Prediction Center of the China Meteorological Administration, Zhang Tiejun, a researcher from the Lanzhou Institute of Drought Meteorology, and the person in charge is Professor Wang Chenghai. Over the years, the teaching team has cooperated closely, and the courses have been successively built into top quality courses in Gansu Province (2012) and first-class courses in Gansu Province (2020); The team presided over and completed more than 10 national and provincial teaching reform projects; He has been selected into the teaching team of colleges and universities in Gansu Province; The team teachers have successively won the honors of 'National Famous Meteorology Teacher', 'Gansu Provincial Famous Teachers of Colleges and Universities', 'Baosteel Excellent Teachers', 'My Favorite Ten Teachers', 'Longji Teaching Backbone', 'Young Changjiang' Scholars and Young Teachers Competition Excellence Award of Lanzhou University.
