On December 9, the theme party day and academic exchange activity was carried out by the teaching and working party branch of the College of Atmospheric Sciences of Lanzhou University to thoroughly study and implement the spirit of the Twentieth National Congress of the Communist Party of China, further carry forward the spirit of patriotism and the spirit of scientists, improve the organizational strength, cohesion and combat effectiveness of the teaching and working party branch, enhance the party spirit cultivation and professional quality of young teachers, promote cooperation and exchanges between teaching and working party branches of the same specialty in colleges and universities, and strive to build a new pattern of grass-roots party building. It was jointly organized with by the Teaching Party Branch of the Department of Marine Meteorology (Cryosphere Science) at the School of Atmospheric Science, Sun Yat sen University, and the Teaching Party Branch of the Department of Atmospheric Science at the School of Environment, China University of Geosciences (Wuhan). Professor Huang Jianping, academician of the CAS Member and director of the Western Ecological Security Collaborative Innovation Center of Lanzhou University, Zheng Hui, secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Atmospheric Sciences of Sun Yat sen University, Hang Jian, vice president, Li Qingxiang, secretary of the Party branch of the Department of Marine Meteorology (Cryospheric Science), Li Sukuang, secretary of the Party committee of the School of Environment of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), Kong Shaofei, secretary of the Party branch of the Department of Atmospheric Sciences, Tian Xulong, secretary of the Party committee of the College of Atmospheric Sciences of Lanzhou University , Guan Xiaodan, secretary of the Party branch of the Department of climatology, and all members of the three branches attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Huang Yu, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the College of Atmospheric Sciences at Lanzhou University.
Academician Huang Jianping was invited to give a keynote speech titled 'The Road to Leadership'. Academician Huang Jianping shared in his report the story of persevering and striving, taking root in the northwest, and dedicating his life's learning to this hot land in the northwest. He reviewed the arduous process of establishing the Lanzhou University Semiarid Climate and Environment Observatory (SACOL) in order to establish a first-class discipline, as well as the experience of conducting field tracking and monitoring in harsh environments.He also introduced the team quickly convened multidisciplinary joint research to establish the 'COVID-19 Global Forecast System' after the outbreak of COVID-19. Academician Huang Jianping encouraged young teachers to promote patriotism and the spirit of scientists by sharing the stories of their own and several outstanding young talents on the path of scientific research. They should not forget their original aspirations by working hard, moving forward bravely, and striving to grow into young talents with ideals, emotions, sense of responsibility, and diligence.
The secretaries of the three teaching and working party branches in three schools introduced the construction of their respective party branches and gave a report on the learning experience of the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. They shared their knowledge, feelings, and insights in learning the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. From the perspectives of educators and researchers, they discussed the issues related to education, technological innovation, talent development strategy, and ecological civilization construction in the report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China Exchanges. It provides valuable experience and new ideas for future party branch construction, scientific research innovation, and better learning and implementing the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. Participants unanimously expressed the hope that in the future, the three parties can further leverage their respective strengths, strengthen cooperation, promote each other, and make progress together.
Tian Xulong stated that this activity is not only an opportunity for exchange but also a learning opportunity. He hopes to promote mutual learning and exchange among the branches, and build more cooperative bridges in party building, ideological and political education, talent cultivation, scientific research, and social services for atmospheric science majors in the southeast, central, and northwest regions. He stated that university teachers are the main body of education, and they should firmly grasp the mission and tasks of the new era, adhere to educating people for the Party and the country, and cultivate a large number of high-quality talents with both moral integrity and talent. Zheng Hui stated that this event is a practice and exploration of the integration of party building and teaching, as well as party building and scientific research. With the help of party building, scientific research innovation has been greatly promoted, and the exchange and high-quality development of atmospheric science disciplines have been greatly promoted. The study and exchange of the report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China will further strengthen the political theoretical literacy of party members in the branch, improve their political standing, and help to jointly build a strong fortress for the branch.Li Sukuang stated that it marks the beginning of a comprehensive integration of Party building and business. Party building should always take education, technology, and talent cultivation as the starting point and foothold, and finally be implemented in high-quality development. The resources of Party building should be transformed into development resources, and the achievements of development should be used to test Party building, promoting further improvement and efficiency of Party building work.
The conference organized three academic exchange topics, and the members of three teaching and working party branches made 15 academic reports, covering the main disciplines of atmospheric science, such as weather science, climatology, physical oceanography, atmospheric dynamics, atmospheric environment, and atmospheric exploration, which provided new ideas for young teachers' scientific research, strengthened inter school exchanges and communication in atmospheric science, improved the professional quality of young teachers in the party branch, and carried forward the spirit of scientists.
This activity has facilitated exchanges and cooperation among the atmospheric science majors of the three universities, and also provided a platform for mutual learning and reference for the party building work of the party branch. It has promoted the multi-dimensional and high-quality development of party building and business work in the College of Atmospheric Sciences of Lanzhou University, the School of Atmospheric Sciences of Sun Yat sen University, and the School of Environment of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan). In the future, we will continue such activities and create them as characteristic brand activities of the Party branch. Through the Party building communication platform, we will enhance the professional abilities of Party members and comrades, and make new contributions to academic and Party building exchanges among the three schools.
