The Department of Meteorology currently has 19 teaching and research personnel, all of whom hold doctoral degrees, including 5 professors and 7 associate professors and senior laboratory technicians. A meteorology department has been formed with four major research fields: weather dynamics theory and methods, development and application of atmospheric numerical models, weather and climate prediction, meteorology and environment and human health, and multiple research directions. The teaching and research content covers the mechanisms of atmospheric circulation variation, climate dynamics theory, small and medium scale meteorology, atmospheric dynamics, numerical weather forecasting, causes and forecasts of severe weather, environmental meteorological forecasting, modern weather forecasting methods and technologies, data analysis and assimilation, global changes and land surface processes, etc., and has formed corresponding teaching and research grassroots organizations. There is one national meteorological teaching master, two teaching masters in Gansu Province, two "Longji Teaching Newcomers", one "Longji Teaching Backbone", and one winner in the National Youth Education Competition and Gansu Youth Education Competition. A series of influential teaching achievements have been formed in the teaching and research of courses such as Principles of Weather Science, Weather Analysis, Numerical Weather Forecasting, Dynamic Meteorology, etc., and one third prize for teaching achievements in Gansu Province has been awarded; The edited graduate textbooks such as Mesoscale Dynamics, Mesoscale Numerical Simulation, Atmospheric Numerical Models and Simulations, and Long term Numerical Weather Forecasting have had a significant impact; We have launched distinctive graduate courses such as Advanced Weather Science, Numerical Forecasting and Data Assimilation, Advanced Atmospheric Dynamics, and Frontiers in Advanced Atmospheric Dynamics. Weathering and Numerical Weather Forecasting are excellent courses in Gansu Province; Numerical Weather Forecasting and Virtual Simulation Experiment of Dynamic and Thermal Effects on the Large Terrain of the Qinghai Tibet Plateau have been selected as national first-class courses and first-class courses in Gansu Province; The course Weather Analysis has been selected as a first-class course in Gansu Province.
In the past 10 years, the department has hosted 3 key projects, 18 general projects, and 7 youth fund projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China; Hosted 5 military projects; Participated in more than 20 national "973" projects, meteorological industry special projects, and other projects; Completed 10 awards for scientific and technological progress in Gansu Province. Trained over 100 master's students, over 50 doctoral students, and 8 postdoctoral fellows; Published 5 monographs, published over 300 papers, obtained 20 invention patents, 2 utility model patents, and 20 software copyrights. Since 2000, he has compiled and published books such as "Climatology in Cold Regions" (Wiley Publishing), "Sandstorm Disasters", "Climate Change (University Textbook)", "Climate Change and Desertification", "Atmospheric Numerical Models and Simulations", "Fundamentals of Numerical Weather Forecasting", "Numerical Weather Forecasting Exercise Set", etc.
