Recently, Professor Tian Wenshou from the College of Atmospheric Sciences at Lanzhou University was elected as a Fellow of the Royal Meteorological Society.
The Royal Meteorological Society (RMetS) was founded in 1850 and is one of the most influential meteorological societies and authoritative academic institutions internationally. Its aim is to promote research, education, and application in meteorology and related scientific fields, and to provide support and exchange platforms for scientists. The Royal Society of Meteorology in the UK targets individuals who have achieved outstanding achievements and made significant contributions in meteorology or related fields. After rigorous evaluation by the Society's evaluation committee, the Society ultimately approves them as RMetS members.
Professor Tian Wenshou is mainly engaged in research on mesospheric atmospheric physics, stratospheric atmospheric chemistry and climate coupling, and stratospheric tropospheric interactions. He is the leader of the Key Field Innovation Team of the Ministry of Science and Technology and has been selected as a leading talent in the 'National High level Talent Special Support Program' and a national meteorological teaching teacher. He has received funding from the National Outstanding Youth Science Fund and the Zhao Jiuzhang Excellent Young and Middle aged Science Award.The election is a high recognition and affirmation of professor Tian's scientific research and meteorological education over the years.
