The College of Atmospheric Sciences went to China Meteorological Administration for research and exchange

In order to further strengthen the cooperation between the university and the bureau, and improve the research level of the college and its ability to serve the needs of the country, from March 31 to April 1, Academician Huang Jianping, Party Secretary Tian Xulong and Dean Huang Zhongwei of the College of Atmospheric Sciences, Lanzhou University, visited relevant units of the China Meteorological Administration for research and cooperation exchange.

On March 31, Huang Jianping and his team visited the China Meteorological Administration's Artificial Weather Modification Center and held a symposium. Li Jiming, the director of the center, welcomed the delegation from the College of Atmospheric Sciences at Lanzhou University and provided a detailed introduction to the national demand orientation and key tasks of the "15th Five-Year Plan" in the field of artificial weather modification. He said that the construction of ecological barriers in the northwest region and the development of cloud water resources are critical areas that need urgent breakthroughs. He expressed hope for deepening cooperation with Lanzhou University in the development of cloud water resources in the Qilian Mountains, the construction of science and technology innovation bases, and the cultivation of high-level talent, to jointly serve national strategic needs. Academician Huang Jianping thanked the Artificial Weather Modification Center for its long-term support to the college. He reviewed the achievements of their cooperation over the years and emphasized that the construction of ecological civilization in the northwest has significant political implications. Both sides should further improve the cooperation framework agreement, integrate resources, complement each other's strengths, and make greater contributions to the construction of the northwest ecological barrier and the modernization of meteorological services. During the symposium, both sides also engaged in in-depth discussions on the construction of research platforms and talent cultivation.

 

 

A research seminar was held at the Artificial Weather Modification Center of China Meteorological Administration

 

On April 1st, the college leadership visited the China Meteorological Administration's Meteorological Observation Center, the National Satellite Meteorology Center, and the Department of Science and Technology and Climate Change under the China Meteorological Administration, holding discussions with relevant officials. At the Meteorological Observation Center, Director Zhang Peng welcomed the delegation from the College of Atmospheric Sciences at Lanzhou University. Both sides had extensive exchanges and discussions on future collaborative research in atmospheric observation, talent cultivation, and student employment. They also toured the operational platform of the Meteorological Observation Center, gaining a detailed understanding of the advantages and performance of the comprehensive meteorological observation data quality control and product business system in terms of data quality control and improvement. In-depth discussions were held on issues related to meteorological observation data quality improvement. Tian Xulong expressed gratitude for the long-term support and assistance provided by the Meteorological Observation Center to the College of Atmospheric Sciences at Lanzhou University. He stated that Lanzhou University will continue to deepen its strategic cooperation with the administration in the new era, hoping that both parties can leverage their respective strengths to promote the transformation of scientific and technological achievements and provide more support in areas such as talent cultivation.

At the National Satellite Meteorological Center, Director Wang Jinsong introduced the current business sectors of the center and expressed gratitude to the College of Atmospheric Sciences at Lanzhou University for providing a large number of outstanding talents to the National Satellite Meteorological Center over the years. He hopes that both sides can leverage their respective strengths to further strengthen cooperation in areas such as satellite remote sensing, platform construction, and talent cultivation. Huang Zhongwei stated that the College of Atmospheric Sciences at Lanzhou University has had long-term close cooperation with the National Satellite Meteorological Center. He hopes that in the future, both sides can continue to enhance exchanges and cooperation in areas such as joint education programs, project applications, talent team building and training, and scientific research, contributing to the development of satellite meteorology in China.
