The College of Atmospheric Sciences Holds the 8th Joint Annual Conference of Atmospheric Sciences

       On January 10, the eighth annual joint academic conference of atmospheric sciences, co sponsored by the College of Atmospheric Sciences of Lanzhou University, the Northwest Environmental Resources Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Gansu Meteorological Administration, and hosted by the College of Atmospheric Sciences of Lanzhou University, was successfully held online. The theme of this conference was 'Pursuing Excellence in Research and Innovation, Promoting High Quality Content Development'. Oral presentations and poster exchanges were conducted, with over 180 teachers and students from three units and other sister universities in China participating in the conference exchange.
       Professor Tian Wenshou, Dean of the College of Atmospheric Sciences at Lanzhou University, Researcher Zhang Qiang, Chief Engineer of the Gansu Provincial Meteorological Bureau, and Deputy Director Cai Ying of the Northwest Ecological Environment and Resources Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. They affirmed the role played by the annual conference in promoting high-quality graduate education over the years, and encouraged young students to use the conference as an opportunity to continuously strengthen communication, deepen thinking, target cutting-edge scientific issues, serve national needs, cultivate innovation awareness, and bravely overcome difficulties. Hope they can strive to become a high-level, high-quality and top-notch talent with outstanding innovation capabilities in the new era. The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Ge Jinming, Vice Dean of the College of Atmospheric Sciences.
 
 
       This annual meeting focused on the physical and chemical properties of atmospheric aerosols, the evolution of atmospheric circulation and drought trend, the impact of ecosystems on species diversity, the development and utilization of new energy, epidemic prediction, and the application of artificial intelligence in frontier directions and interdisciplinary fields, and carried out more than 20 oral reports and dozens of posters. The conference invited professional teachers from three units for guidance, and the attending judges Professor Zhang Lei, Researcher Hu Zeyong, Researcher Wang Runyuan, Researcher Yue Ping, and other experts gave wonderful comments on the students' reports. They clarified the highlights of research work, while also pointing out existing problems, proposed good suggestions for specific directions and methods that can be explored in depth, and improved the independent thinking and innovation ability of graduate students. The attending students benefited greatly. At the end of the annual meeting, after evaluation and review by the judges, 3 first prizes, 5 second prizes, 7 third prizes, and 15 excellent awards were selected. The academic annual meeting actdidivvities were successfully concluded.
 
 
       This annual graduate conference is a specific measure to implement the spirit of the National Graduate Education Conference and the talent cultivation strategy of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. It provides an excellent platform for learning and exchanging knowledge achievements for atmospheric science graduate students, creates a good academic innovation atmosphere, sets an example and stimulates vitality, and also expands the influence of atmospheric science talent cultivation in Lanzhou. The College of Atmospheric Sciences of Lanzhou University adheres to the college's academic style of 'diligence, pragmatism, and progress' and the college's motto of 'learning diligently, adapting to the times, cultivating integrity, and harmonizing people'. It has held eight consecutive graduate academic conferences with Northwest University and Gansu Provincial Meteorological Bureau, promoting the improvement of talent professional knowledge while also focusing on integrating the excellent academic and cultural qualities of the college into the process of independent talent cultivation to effectively cultivate high-level and top-notch talents with a sense of responsibility and mission of the times.
