The Department of Atmospheric Environment is an important platform for teaching experiments and internships in atmospheric pollution prevention and control, atmospheric data analysis and application, atmospheric chemistry, and atmospheric detection in the college. It undertakes teaching work such as "Air Pollution Meteorology", "Numerical Analysis", "Boundary Layer Meteorology", "Atmospheric Chemistry", "Advanced Atmospheric Detection", "Environmental Impact Assessment", "Atmospheric Detection", "Atmospheric Data Analysis and Assimilation", "Atmospheric Dynamics", "Mathematical Statistics and Forecasting", etc.
The Department of Atmospheric Environment has been committed to the causes and prevention of regional and urban air pollution, meteorological and air quality simulation, planning and protection of atmospheric and ecological environments, and research on the relationship between low-carbon economy and new energy for many years. It has undertaken dozens of national scientific research projects, including the National Key Basic Research Development Program "973" project, the National Natural Science Foundation key project, the National Natural Science Foundation general project, and the Youth Fund project;The Department of Atmospheric Environment has completed research projects commissioned by local governments and enterprises, including environmental consulting, source inventory and analysis, air pollution prevention and control, data assimilation and inversion, boundary layer and land surface process research, etc. In recent years, it has completed more than 60 million research funds and accumulated rich research experience in regional air pollution prevention and control, air quality simulation and prediction, carbon peak and carbon neutrality research, planning and construction project environmental impact assessment, etc. It has played a think tank role in serving local government ecological environment protection work, and made outstanding contributions to improving regional environmental quality and promoting local economic green development.
Research directions: Air pollution prevention and control, atmospheric chemistry, numerical simulation of air quality, data assimilation, atmospheric remote sensing and inversion, atmospheric boundary layer detection, environmental management and protection planning, environmental impact assessment, carbon pollution collaborative governance, carbon inventory and carbon neutrality planning, etc.
Representative achievements: 1 national quality course; 1 second prize of National Natural Science Award, 1 first prize of Natural Science Award of Gansu Province, 1 second prize of Natural Science Award of the Ministry of Education, 2 second prizes of Science Progress Award of Gansu Province, 1 first prize of Natural Science Award of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, 1 second prize of Achievement Transformation Award of the National Meteorological Center, 1 teaching achievement award of Gansu Province, and 1 second prize of Science and Technology Progress Award of the Lanzhou Branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences; 4 textbooks and monographs and over 50 SCI papers were published.
