On December 8, the Second Congress of the Communist Youth League of the College of Atmospheric Sciences was held in the 2009 lecture hall of Guanyun Building, West District, Chengguan Campus. Wang Yanhong, deputy secretary of the Communist Youth League Committee of Lanzhou University, Wang Weiguo, secretary of the Party Committee of the College of Atmospheric Sciences, Si Wenxuan, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of the College of Atmospheric Sciences, and the heads of the Youth League Committees of various brotherly Colleges attended the opening ceremony. The meeting was presided over by Hou Haikun, deputy secretary of the Youth League Committee of the College of Atmospheric Sciences and attended by representatives of all the members of the College.
With the solemn national anthem, Dong Rui, secretary of the Communist Youth League Committee of the Second Clinical Medical School, delivered a speech on behalf of the Youth League Committee of the brotherly Colleges, wishing the Congress a success.
Wang Yanhong affirmed the work of the Communist Youth League and the Student Union of the College of Atmospheric Sciences. He hoped that the young people would work hard to be doers of reform; be strivers for career development; and be outstanding dreamers.
Wang Weiguo highlighted the significance of the Congress for the College and the member youth of the YCL. On behalf of the Party Committee of the College, he wished all the member youth can build soul with ideal, strive for meritorious service with youth, and achieve dreams by seeking the truth. He also hoped that the Communist Youth League would carry forward the tradition in the new era and be brilliant.
Hou Haikun made a report titled “Concentrate on the reform and development, work hard to cultivate new people of the times, and mobilize the youth to make achievements in building ‘Double-First-Class’ university”. The report summarized the work done by the Communist Youth League and the Student Union of the College and analyzed the current situation and challenges, as well as put forward the future ideas and prospects.
Subsequently, group discussions were done by delegations, and the delegates actively presented their ideas. At the 2nd meeting of the Bureau, the reviews were reported by the heads of the delegates, and the Resolution on the Adoption of Work Reports (Draft) was adopted. At the 2nd plenary meeting, the Congress voted to pass the 'Work Report of the Committee of the College of Atmospheric Sciences of Lanzhou University of the Communist Youth League'. Later, nine members of the Second Committee of the College of Atmospheric Sciences of the Communist Youth League were elected through voting.
At the closing ceremony that afternoon, Shi Wanfeng read out the list of newly elected members of the Committee. Si Wenxuan made a closing speech.
The Congress ended in a solemn song of Communist Youth League.
Subsequently, at the first plenary meeting of the 2nd Committee of the whole, the new secretary and deputy secretary of the College of Atmospheric Sciences of the Communist Youth League were elected.
